Voter Identification Requirements
Pursuant to ARS § 16-579

*Proposition 200, passed by the voters of Arizona at the 2004 general election, became effective January 2005.

Voter Registration

All new voter registration forms must be accompanied with satisfactory evidence of United States citizenship, which includes one of the following:

  • An Arizona driver's license number or non-operating identification license number, issued after October 1, 1996
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs card number, Tribal Treaty card number or Tribal enrollment number
  • Valid United States federal, state or local government issued identification
  • A driver's license or non-operating identification license from another state that identifies U.S. citizenship
  • A legible photocopy of a birth certificate with the name of the applicant that verifies U.S. citizenship
  • A legible photocopy of the pertinent pages of the United States passport
  • A copy of the United States Naturalization documents or the number of the Certification of Naturalization

Identification at the Polls

The voter shall announce his/her name and place of residence to the election official and present 1 form of identification from List 1 or 2 different forms of identification from List 2:

List 1
Sufficient Photo ID including name and address - 1 required:

  • Valid Arizona driver license or non-operating identification
  • Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
  • Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification

List 2
Sufficient Identification without photograph bearing the name and address - 2 required:

  • Utility bill of the elector that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
    • A utility bill may be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, sewer, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television
  • Bank or credit union statement that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
  • Valid Arizona Vehicle Registration
  • Indian census card
  • Property tax statement of the elector's residence
  • Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
  • Vehicle insurance card
  • Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification
  • Voter Registration Card/Recorder's Certification
  • Any official election material mailing bearing your name and address
