1. What should I expect when calling in an emergency?

When you phone in an emergency you will be asked to identify as much as you can about the source of the problem. Your service area maintenance contractor will dispatch a technician immediately depending on the severity. Action taken will also depend on the severity of the emergency. Please note after hours fees may apply.

2. How often do I get a water/sewer bill?

Prescott Valley Water System mails bills monthly.

3. How do I shut off my own water?

Locate your water shut-off valve and turn it counterclockwise until it stops. Shut-off valves may be located by your water heater or close to your meter.  

4. How can I pay my bill?

You can pay your bill at the Civic Center at the cashier window. The address is 7501 East Skoog Boulevard, Prescott Valley. Payments placed in the drop box will be posted the next business day. You can also mail your payment to: Prescott Valley Water System, P.O. Box 5165, Harlan IA  51593-0665.

Paying Your Bill

Your bill is due and payable on or before the due date printed on the bill.   Your payment may be made by these methods:


Mail - Send a check or money order in the enclosed envelope with the bottom portion of your bill.
Do not send cash.

Night Drop Box - For your after-hours convenience, we have a drop box located in the parking lot in front of the Civic Center.  Place your payment stub and check or money order in a clearly marked envelope with your name and address on it.  Payments deposited after 3pm are posted the next business day.

On-line - We accept credit card payments through our Web site at Online Bill Pay. Payments made after 3pm are posted the next business day.

Over The Phone - We accept debit/credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) over the phone at 928-759-3120. Please have your Town account number and debit/credit card information ready.

In Person - We accept cash, checks, money orders and debit or credit cards at the Civic Center at the 2nd floor Cashier Window.

Bank Draft - You can have your utility bill automatically deducted from your checking or savings account. Please contact the Customer Accounts Division at 928-759-3020 for details. You must complete a form with your account information and furnish us with a voided check. The form is available in our office, on the Web site or we can mail it to you.

5. Do you accept credit card payments?

Yes, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. There is no extra fee.

6. How much time do I have to pay my bill?

Your water bill is due 20 days after the billing date. Late payments will be assessed a penalty. If you are paying your bill on or near the due date, it is recommended that you pay your bill in person at the Civic Center (7501 East Skoog Boulevard - 2nd floor cashier window) to avoid the late penalty and disconnect.

7. Can I pay my water bill and my sewer bill with 1 check?

Yes. Please make the check payable to Town of Prescott Valley and include account numbers.

8. I'm going on vacation; what can I do about my bill?

You can prepay your account before you leave based on your average monthly bill. However, if this does not cover the actual charges before you return, you could be subject to penalties due to late payments and disconnect. Just send your payment to: Prescott Valley Water System, P.O. Box 5165, Harlan IA  51593-0665.

The account will bill against the credit. You can also sign up for automatic payment deduction of your bill through your bank account.

9. Should I be concerned about freezing pipes?

Freezing pipes are usually only a problem for manufactured homes and trailers. All pipes under the skirt should be insulated to avoid freezing.

10. I have water in one part of my house but not another, who do I call?

Call your plumber. This is not a water emergency but a problem that is occurring within your pipes. If you have no hot water, this is a problem with your water heater and should be checked by a plumber.
